• High School Adolescent Vaccination

    • Spencer Hospital Clay County Public Health and Avera Medical Group Spencer are going to offer FOUR recommended

      adolescent vaccinations at school.

    • Are these vaccinations required?

      • To help protect students, their families, and the community, a new Iowa law was implemented. It requires 2 doses

of the Meningococcal (A,C,W,Y) vaccines for students in grade 12 or 1 dose if received when the student was 16

        years of age or older.

    • What if my child already received these vaccinations?

      • Once you have given consent, we will check your child’s record in the Iowa Registry (IRIS). We will only administer

the vaccines to which you have consented and are needed.

  • Middle School Adolescent Vaccination

    • Spencer Hospital Clay County Public Health and Avera Medical Group Spencer are going to offer THREE recommended adolescent vaccinations at school.

    • Why does my child need these vaccinations?

      • As children get older, the immunity provided by childhood vaccines can wear off.  Children are also at risk of

new diseases as they enter their teen years.  To help protect students, their families, and the community, Iowa law REQUIRES the Tdap and Meningococcal (A,C,W,Y) vaccines for students enrolling in 7th grade.
